week 2 update

We have finished our proposal for the Rocket LiftOff this week. After discussion, we decide to focus on literature study in the later . And we will keep update our status on the blogging. And here is our timeline for more details.

We also decide that the lab we design fro students is going to focus on fuel selection and fuel testing. Since it is one of the most important of launching a rocket and it also well connected chemistry and physics. We will spend two weeks in the task to make sure the difficulty is freshman level and it is workable.

For our own rocket, in designing part. We decided the shape of our rocket to be missile shape instead of a sharp head for a smaller resistance hence greater acceleration when Launching

Introduction

The design project that we are working on is for educational purposes. The educational lab we are working on is entitled "Rocket LiftOff." "Rocket LiftOff" will be where the students are asked to create a rocket and demonstrate its flight. The lab spans over six weeks. Students have a lot of freedom in this lab. While many labs are structured, we want to give our students the freedom to be creative. The students have the power in designing and choosing the materials. However, there are a few design constraints on the materials. The materials must be eco-friendly and not hazardous.

The purpose of this educational lab is for students to connect multiple fields into one. Constructing a rocket is difficult, there are many components from various fields. The goal of this lab is show to the students how different fields come together to make one product. The primary three fields the students will focus is physics, chemistry, and engineering (mechanical).
